Isophane Insulin is used in the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
How it Works
Isophane Insulin operates by reducing the amount of glucagon and increases the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas to control the blood sugar levels in the body. Glucagon causes the liver to produce more sugar, so by Isophane Insulin reducing the amount of glucagon in the body, this also helps to reduce the levels of glucose in the blood which then helps in the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes by facilitating the re-uptake of glucose in the muscle and fat cells.
