Action and Effects of Generic Viagra
Action and Effects of Generic Viagra
Generic viagra belongs to a group of medicines that delay the enzymes called phosphodiesterases from working too quickly. This enzyme works in the penis areas. By controlling the enzyme phosphodiesterase, this drug enables to maintain an erection that is produced when the penis is stroked. Without physical action to the penis, such as that occurring during sexual intercourse, sildenafil will not work to cause an erection.
Effects
Generic viagra has been reported to have different impact on different patients, especially on those who have certain medical problems.
People who had mild (CLcr=50–80 mL/min) or moderate (CLcr=30–49 mL/min) renal impairment, the effects of a single oral dose of Viagra (50 mg) is not different from that of normal patients. But those who have severe (CLcr=<30 mL/min) renal impairment, they lack sufficient elimination of sildenafil from the body, so that the plasma concentration of this drug is high. It causes around doubling of AUC and C max in comparison to age-matched subjects with no renal impairment. Moreover, AUC and Cmax levels of N-desmethyl metabolite significantly increased 200% and 79% accordingly in those who had severe renal impairment than subjects with normal renal function.
Old people who do not have health problems will definitely show a higher concentration of the ingredients of viagra than the healthy younger people. As they show a reduction in the elimination of sildenafil, the plasma AUC value of sildenafil and its active N-desmethyl metabolite is high than healthy younger volunteers (18–45 years).
People who have hepatic cirrhosis (Child-Pugh A and B), decreases sildenafil clearance, causing increases in AUC and C max compared to those who have no hepatic impairment. The effect of sildenafil in patients with severely impaired hepatic function (Child Pugh class C) is not identified.
Single oral doses of sildenafil (100 mg) given to healthy people produced decreases in sitting blood pressure (mean maximum decrease in systolic/diastolic blood pressure of 8.3/5.3 mmHg).
