Irbesartan
Uses
Irbesartan is used in the treatment of increased blood pressure, heart failure, heart attack and diabetic kidney disease.
How it Works
Irbesartan is known as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Irbesartan works by preventing the blood vessels from narrowing so it helps to improve blood flow. Angiotensin II is a type of vasoconstrictor which means that it causes tightening of the blood vessels which contributes to hypertension. Irbesartan relaxes the blood vessels which lowers the blood pressure and also reduces the workload of the heart. As a result, the heart works more efficiently.
