6-MP is used in the treatment of cancer and certain types of leukemia
How it Works
6-MP is known as an anti cancer medication. 6-MP works by interfering with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. 6-MP specifically interferes with the growth of DNA and RNA of the cancer cells by substituting their building blocks, this then prevents the cancer cells from growing and multiplying.
Common Side effects
Patients who take 6-MP may suffer from such side effects;
Nausea,
Intestinal ulcer,
Anemia,
Increased bilirubin in the blood,
Vomiting,
Rash,
Decreased white blood cell count,
Reduced blood platelets,
Increased transaminase level in blood,
Diarrhoea,
Loss of appetite
