Imidacloprid
Uses
Imidacloprid is an insecticide made to mimic nicotine. Nicotine is found naturally in many plants, including tobacco, and is toxic to insects. Imidacloprid is used to control fluke insects, termites, soil insects and pet fleas.
How it Works
Imidacloprid disrupts the ability of the nerve to send a normal signal, and the nervous system that needs it ceases to function. Imidacloprid is much more toxic to mammals and birds than insects and other invertebrates because it binds well to the receptors of insect neurons.
