The US brand name of Ampicillin / DiCloxacillin is Megapen it is also known as Megaclox. It is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections. CIPLA manufactures the drug. It comes in the form of capsules. Each capsule has the strength of 250mg. It works by preventing bacterial infections in the human body by killing the bacterial cells.
Composition
The main active component of this drug is AMPICILLIN TRIHYDRATE. This substance has a molecular weight of 403.45. Inactive compositions of this drug are gelatine, lactose monohydrate, titanium dioxide, atmos 300, sodium citrate, vanillin, sodium benzoate, lactose monohydrate, emulsion, sucrose, and artificial flavourings. These three parts of the water molecule are attached to trihydrate.
Use
This drug is used as an antibiotic for the treatment of bacterial infections. It also helps in the treatment of to any kind of allergic reactions such as rashes, redness of eyes and itchiness. It prevents the skin from the swelling. It is used in the treatment of diarrhoea as well.
Dosage and administration
The dose taken for this drug should be at regular intervals of every 5-6 hours. The normal dosage is usually 250 mg at a time. The medication should be consumed as per schedule that is given by the doctors and also as per written on the manual of the tablet. You should not miss any dose and take the medicine on a regular basis. If you miss any dose you can skip the medicine on that particular day and take medication for the next day.
Contraindication
