Generic Temovate Clobetasol is a corticosteroid that treats swelling, redness and itching. It is used for various scalp conditions. This drug may also be used for certain skin conditions.
How should I use Temovate?
Use the Generic Temovate Clobetasol cream exactly as instructed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, you can ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Rinse your hands before and after each application, unless this medicine is being used to treat a hand condition. Apply a small amount to the affected area and massage it lightly into the skin. Apply the scalp lotion as directed.
Keep away from using plastic, occlusive dressings that obstruct air to circulate to the area. Whether it is Generic Temovate Clobetasol cream, ointment, foam or gel, do not use more than 50 grams or more than 50 mL of the lotion in 1 week. Also don’t use it for longer than 2 weeks in a row unless directed by your doctor. Do not use the medicine to treat any area of the body that it is not prescribed for. This could be dangerous. A regular application can give you the most benefit. Store the medicine at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Side Effects
Some of the most frequent adverse reactions reported for Generic Temovate Clobetasol Cream are burning and stinging sensation in 1% of treated patients. There are also some rare adverse reactions observed during clinical trials. These are itching, skin atrophy, and cracking of the skin. It has caused cushing's syndrome in infants and adults because of prolonged use of topical clobetasol propionate formulations.
Drug Interaction
Many drugs can increase the effects of Temovate, which can lead to heavy sedation. Some of the drugs that cause interaction with Generic Temovate Clobetasol are as follows: Use of plastic bandages, dressings, or diapers that do not allow air to circulate to the area. Occlusive dressings increase the drug absorptions of the body. Use of other topical products on the treated area, can also cause skin rashes. Besides these there may also other drug causing interaction. Before using any of such products talk to your doctor.
The OLUX foam is flammable. Evade fire, flame, and smoking during and immediately following application of the medication.
Precautions
Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergies, scalp/skin infections. Do not get Generic Temovate Clobetasol in your eye. If you do, flush it immediately with water thoroughly.
Though very rare, there are chances this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. It causes in children and in those who have used this for an extended period of time and if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug.
This medication can be used during pregnancy only when required greatly. It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Children under 12 years of age can’t use this drug.
