Uses

Domperidone is used in the treatment of Nausea and vomiting.

How it Works

Domperidone helps to stimulates the release of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that can increase the motility of the intestine. Domperidone then allows the food in the stomach to go/move through the digestive system more quickly. This helps to stop feeling sick and vomitting symptoms.

Esomeprazole 

Uses

Esomeprazole is used as a treatment of acidity, intestinal ulcers, heartburn and stomach ulcers.

How it Works

Esomeprazole works by stopping the cells in the lining of the stomach from producing too much acid, and this helps to prevent ulcers from forming, or assists the healing process where damage has already occurred. It works by decreasing the amount of acid, and this can also help to reduce the symptoms of acid reflux disease, such as acidity, heartburn, intestinal ulcers and stomach ulcers.

Common Side effects

Patients who take Esomeprazole may suffer from such side effects;

Nausea,
Abdominal pain,
Constipation,
Diarrhoea,
Flatulence,
Bloody stools,
Muscle spasms

Introduction

Esomeprazole is prescribed for gastroesophageal reflux or GERD. This disease effects the digestive system also th lower part of the oesophagal sphincter. Many people, including pregnant woman, suffer from severe heartburn and also acidic indigestion which can be treated by intake of Esomeprazole. This medicine works by decreasing the need of taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are the main cause for certain type of ulcers which will affect the inner intestine. 

Warning

Pregnant women are advised to avoid Esomeprazole, should consult with their physician or pharmacist before taking the medication.

Important Precautions

If you have fever, joint pain, skin rash, swelling of the body, feet, or ankles, or unusual weight gain after taking this medicine, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Administration to children

Children under 1 year: Safety and efficacy not established  
1 month to 1 year: 0.5 mg/kg intravenously (IV) once/day
1 year and older (less than 55 kg): 10 mg IV once/day
1 year and older (55 kg and greater): 20 mg IV once/day

Overdosage

Overdose symptoms such: 
confusion
headache 
drowsiness
blurred vision
fast heartbeat
nausea
dry mouth
sweating 
shortness of breath 
loss of coordination 
seizure (convulsions)

Handling Precautions

Seek medical advise from your doctor  if you have watery stool that does not go away, stomach pain, and fever while consuming this medicine.

Storage

Store at room temperature and away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Pharmacology


Esomeprazole demonstrates a better pharmacokinetic profile than the racemic product. The pharmacology of Esomeprazole activity in preventing gastric acid trough proton pump provides an enhanced effect, and Esomeprazole rapidly absorbs the acid which is the main cause of gastresophagel reflux disease
