Nelfinavir
Uses
Nelfinavir is used in the treatment of HIV infections
How it Works
Nelfinavir works by inhibiting the protease of the HIV virus. This helps prevent the production of more infectious HIV viral cells. The HIV-1 virus is dependent on enzymes known as proteases in order for its reproductive cycle to function properly. Nelfinavir blocks the viral protease, it affects certain polyproteins, and this causes the virus to reproduce immature viral copies which are not able to further infect the body.
