Introduction
Triquilar is an oral contraceptive pill, which is used to prevent unwanted pregnancy. This medicine suppresses ovulation, preventing the eggs to fertilize thus helping in birth control. Continuous use of this medicine results in regular periods and a less painful menstrual cycle. It is a hormonal contraceptive drug and it mainly produces mucus in the area of uterine, which prevents sperm from penetrating the ovum. The medicine should ideally be stored at temperatures between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Use
This drug is a contraceptive pill that is used for birth control. It is a combination of two hormones, Ethinylestradiol and Levonorgestrel. These hormones work together to control pregnancy. This drug prevents normal menstrual cycles, suppresses the release of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), and prevents egg maturation. It also makes the cervical mucus very thick, which blocks the sperm from entering and fertilizing the egg, thereby preventing pregnancy.
Dosage and administration
Each pack consists of 21 tablets. It is divided into 3 doses. It contains 6 light brown tablets of Levonorgestrel 0.05 mg and Ethinylestradiol 0.03 mg, 5 small white tablets of Levonorgestrel 0.075 mg and Ethinylestradiol 0.04 mg, and 10 ochreous tablets of Levonorgestrel 0.125 mg and Ethinylestradiol 0.03 mg. For the first 6 days, the light brown tablets are used. From day 7 to 11, the white tablets are taken once a day followed by the 10 remaining ochreous tablets that are to be taken during the last 10 days of the 3 week schedule.
