Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic medication that is used in the treatment of certain parasitic roundworm infections, heartworm disease, and hookworm infections. Ivermectin treats parasitic infections of the skin, eyes, and intestinal tract.
How it Works
Ivermectin works by paralyzing and killing the parasites in the beginning stages of its growth before it gets to mature. Ivermectin works by binding to the muscle and nerve cells of the parasitic worms thus leading to their paralysis and death. Ivermectin is used as a long-term treatment to prevent infection and also eliminate any current infections. Ivermectin can also be effective for preventing intestinal infections caused by hookworms or roundworms

Pyrantel is an heartworm preventative or known as anthelmintic which is prescribed for use in dogs. Pyrantel works by destroying heartworm larvae. Pyrantel works by causing paralysis of the worms and removing them out of the body.
