Alendronic Acid
Uses
Alendronate is used in the treatment of Osteoporosis
How it Works
Alendronate is known as a bisphosphonate. Alendronate slows down the rate at which old bone is lost by inhibiting the activity of osteoclasts which are cells that cause loss of bone mass. As the body continues to make new bone, this leads to an overall increase in bone density. This then reduces the risk of broken bones and fractures.
