Introduction
This medication is used to treat skin infections. It is mostly used in the treatment of fungal infections of the vagina. It is taken by women only. The drug is an antifungal agent and kills fungi by weakening the fungal cell membrane and inhibiting its growth. This medication does not treat bacterial infections.
Use
Clotrimazole is used in the treatment of fungal infections in the vagina such as vaginal burning, itching, and white discharge from the body. The drug usually works by stopping the growth of the fungus. It usually ruptures the cell membrane of the yeast and releases the toxic substances from the body. It can be used to treat any form of fungal infections present in the vagina.
Dosage and administration
It needs to be taken in the form of a tablet. The tablet needs to be inserted in the vagina. Unwrap the tablet and follow the instruction. Fill the applicator with this tablet and with the help of the applicator, insert it into the vagina as far as it can comfortably go. Press the applicator to release the tablet. It is a 100 mg tablet and is usually prescribed by the doctor to take this medication once every day before bedtime for 7 nights. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor, in case you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue as per the normal schedule.
