Introduction
This drug is used by women to prevent pregnancy. The drug is composed of a progestin, Levonorgestrel at 0.15 mg, and an estrogen, Ethinyl Estradiol at 0.03 mg, which is enough to prevent pregnancy. Due to the advantageous property of this drug, it is considered as one of the best contraceptive pills in the market.
Use
This drug is generally used to effectively prevent pregnancy. This drug is also used to treat many other problems in women like controlling the menstrual cycle, managing hyperandrogenic state, or curing gynecological problems. With the proper dosage of this drug on a regular manner, it can also help manage womb cancer (ovarian cancer), breast pain, and groin aches. It is best to seek advice from a medical professional before taking this drug.
Dosage and administration
Ovral L is available in tablet form and each package contains 21 tablets. Each tablet contains Levonorgestrel 0.15 mg and Ethinyl Estradiol 0.03 mg. If you are planning to take the tablet for the first time, you would have to start from the first day of menses and take it continuously for 21 days (one pill per day). If you are already using this tablet and planning to start with the next package, you would only need to resume after 7 days from the last tablet you took. Try to consume the tablet at the same time each day. In case you missed taking a tablet, try to take it as soon as you remember within 12 hours of your supposed intake or you can take 2 tablets at the same interval on the next day. If you have missed taking two tablets, take 2 tablets on 2 consecutive days and resume usual intervals after 2 days. This method is not applicable if you have missed three or more tablets or have missed two or more in the third week of intake. In such cases, it is usually prescribed to start with a new package and discharge the previous package. Check with the doctor when having doubts.
Warning
This is a birth control drug thus using these tablets do not protect you from any sexually transmitted diseases. Using a condom is one of the best ways to stay safe. Always keep a note of this.
