Uses
Vancomycin is used in the treatment of Serious bacterial infections and the symptoms it can cause. Vancomycin is also used to treat staph infections that can cause inflammation of the colon and small intestines.
How it Works
Vancomycin is known as an antibiotic. Vancomycin works by killing the bacteria by attacking the bacterial cell wall. Vancomycin prevents the synthesis peptidoglycan, peptidoglycan provides the cell wall with the strength required for survival of bacteria in human body. Thus this kills the bacterial cells and stops the infection
Common Side effects
Patients who take Vancomycin may suffer from such side effects;
Nausea,
Abdominal pain,
Decreased potassium level in blood,
Bladder pain,
Bloating or swelling,
Bloody or cloudy urine,
Convulsions,
Decreased urine
